Last year, we were so lucky to go to the 1st Annual TedxMaui! For those that don’t know, Ted.com is a great place to spend some computer time getting inspired by hundreds of 20 minute talks by the top speakers in almost every field. We first watched them while having lunch (since they’re short enough to watch then talk about in a lunch break.) We never imagined that the talks would come to Maui! We expect to be awed again on January 13th, 2013!
Going to this event is special, not only due to the great speakers, but also because of the crowd it draws. Maui has a lot of really bright, positive, forward-thinking people, but rarely do they all converge on one location. ON Sunday, January 13th, The Maui Arts & Cultural Center will hold the 2nd TedxMaui event (and more than likely sell out again.)
We’re really excited to see repeat host Kainoa Horcajo back on stage along with Lia Krieg to help present honored speakers. Kainoa is THE MAN on Maui, helping to share the culture and create a brighter future for our islands. Lia is a legend of Maui Theater and local teacher at Baldwin High. We couldn’t ask for more appropriate presenters for such a powerful event.
2013 Speakers/Performers include:
- Paul Atkins
- Chad Kālepa Baybayan
- Michael Bernard Beckwith
- Rickie Byars Beckwith
- Jim Channon
- Sean Connelly
- WenLu Duffy
- Alex Grey

We’re so incredibly excited! Hopefully we’ll see you there! ALOHA!
Thank you so much for this wonderful post! And I love that you mentioned the crowd. TED magic is so much more than just hearing presentations all day. It’s about making new connections and I highly recommend sitting next to someone you don’t know. Remember when you look around the room that every person has committed their Sunday to learning something new. It’s an inspirational crowd to be a part of. Hope to meet you at the event!
Tickets are still available!
I’ll see you there! Bringing my dad, I think he’ll enjoy it.
I’ve only watched online until now as I was sick in bed last year. I do think having the energy of the rest of the audience will be quite an experience.
Thank you Maui Goodness for this wonderful article about TEDxMaui. I too am floating on air because TEDxMaui is here again… only days away and I’ve got my golden ticket! Hope you see you there, so we can be enlightened and inspired together. Aloha
I am looking forward to it too. I ushered last year and could only hear a few all the way through, So my husband and I have tickets this time.
Anyone want to take a TEDX Maui alum to the dance?
Vincent, you are the man! Your talk was epic, as are all your talks. Are you getting a pass this year? You should get a freebie!
